Hi, I’m Sarah! I’m a wife, the mother of two wonderful girls, and I was a public school teacher for 10 years before I had kids. As a breastfeeding mother, I encountered so many challenges: weight gain concerns, supply issues, pumping at work, among so many others. I’m very grateful for the helpers that surrounded me during these difficult times, and it’s their support that inspired me to begin my career as a lactation consultant.

As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I enthusiastically help my families reach their feeding goals: from nursing to formula feeding to somewhere in between. I combine my personal experience and instinctual compassion with a wealth of factual knowledge to help my families flourish in the postpartum period and beyond. My years of experience as a doula working with families in the postpartum period guides my lactation support. I look at the “whole picture” of the family and the baby. By referring to my extensive training on newborn sleep, infant development, and postpartum recovery, I help families understand how these aspects are invariably intertwined with nursing and eating patterns. The postpartum period is difficult but fleeting; I love working with families to make adjustments so that breastfeeding becomes manageable and so they can enjoy their time with their baby.

In my free time (ha!) I love reading, yoga, knitting, hula hooping, doing arts and crafts, and playing outside with my family. We live in Ipswich, Massachusetts with our two cats, Lola & Ernie.

About Kaleigh

Kaleigh is a mentee working with Sarah in the office at Beyond Birthing.

Hi, I’m Kaleigh! I’m a doula, Certified Lactation Counselor, and mother of three, currently working toward becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). My passion is helping families feel informed, supported, and confident as they navigate life with a new baby.

My journey into this work began with my own transition to motherhood in 2015. Although I had always been fascinated by pregnancy and birth, I was afraid of experiencing it myself. Through education, a HypnoBirthing course, and the support of my doula, I had a beautiful birth experience. Afterward, a new parents’ group gave me the understanding and unbiased emotional support I needed as I adjusted to motherhood. Those experiences showed me how much compassionate support can shape a family’s beginning and inspired me to become a doula.

In 2016, I completed Labor and Postpartum & Infant Care Doula training through ProDoula. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of supporting many families through birth and the early months of parenthood. I have also trained as a Postpartum Placenta Specialist, Certified HypnoBirthing Educator, and Certified Lactation Counselor.

Throughout my work, I’ve found that infant feeding is one of the areas where new parents most often need support. Feeding can bring questions, unexpected challenges, and emotions that families may not have anticipated. My experience supporting parents through these moments inspired me to pursue the IBCLC credential so I can deepen my clinical knowledge and offer more comprehensive lactation care.

I believe every family deserves respectful, individualized support that considers their feeding goals, circumstances, and well-being. My approach centers on listening without judgment, sharing evidence-based information, and helping parents build confidence as they find a feeding approach that works for their family.

I live in North Reading, Massachusetts, with my husband and our three children, Peter, Abe, and Emmy.
